The
Circle
of
Art
began
in
1989
& the
first
two
Circle
of
Art events
were
held
in
conjunction
with
the
Borrego
Springs Grapefruit
Festival.
In
1992 the first "Print of the Year" was produced and in
1993
The
Circle
of
Art
became
a
singular
stand
alone
event
drawing
upon
the
beauty
of
the
Anza
Borrego
Desert
in
the
Spring.
Every
year
in
March
Borrego
Springs
is
host
to
the
Circle
of
Art
at
Christmas
Circle
Park
in
the
heart
of
the
village.
Hence
the
name
"Circle
of
Art". This
fine
arts
show
is
FREE to
the
public
and
features
approximately
seventy artists.
The Circle of Art is sponsored by Basic Assistance to Students in the Community (BASIC), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt corporation that provides grants & scholarships for educational purposes to the residents of Borrego Valley. Proceeds from the show are used for the scholarship fund.
Organizers select about 60 artists for the show each year,
exhibiting
quality
paintings
and
art
works
representing
a
variety
of
media
including
oil
and
watercolors,
photography,
sculpture,
ceramics,
pottery,
weaving
and
jewelry.
Each
year
an
artist
is
selected
for
the
featured
art
on a
22"
x
28"
print commemorating
the
show.
Prints
from
current
&
previous
years
are
available
for
purchase
(some
signed
by
the
artists),
featuring
works
by
artists
Marjorie
Reed,
Carol
Duffy,
Andre
Blanche,
Dillie
Thomas,
Dusty
Kinman,
David
Salk,
Nancy
Lynn,
Lee
Jayred,
Dorothy
Cochran,
Sunny
Daniels
and
more.
Prints suitable for
framing may be purchased from several
locations in Borrego Springs, CA as well as the Visitors Center in
the State Park. The Anza-Borrego Desert Nature Center
also handles phone
& email orders for the prints shown here. To order prints, contact the Nature Center at 760-767-3098. Some Prints are no longer available.
Many of the artists return to the show each year to display other examples of their work at this outdoor fine art show.
